Non-Appearance Police Clearance: Renew Without Going to the Station

Three years. That’s the window for a non appearance police clearance: if a station took your photo and fingerprints within the last three years, you can renew online, upload two pictures and download the new clearance without going back.
Renewal rules checked against pnpclearance.ph on 29 October 2026.
Put simply, non-appearance is the PNP’s renewal route that skips the station. Instead of new biometrics, it reuses the record from your last visit and adds two photos you upload from home.
A short disclaimer: Police Clearance Guide is run independently of the PNP. Only the official portal can approve your renewal.
Before you start: a 60-second eligibility check
Run through these before you pay anything:
- Find the issue date on your last national clearance.
- Count back three years from today. Is your date inside that window?
- Try signing in to the account you used then.
- Check that your valid ID is still current, since it appears in your selfie.
- Make sure you have, or can take, a recent 2×2 picture.
If you can tick all five, you’re ready. If one fails, fix it first or plan a station visit instead.
Who can use the non appearance police clearance?
The portal sets two conditions, and you need both:
- A recent in-person clearance. You completed a national clearance at a station within the last three years.
- The same account. You sign in with the login you used that time, because your stored record lives there.
On the other hand, these situations rule it out:
- Your last station visit was more than three years ago.
- You’ve never had a national clearance before.
- You opened a new account and can’t get back into the old one.
In those cases, you renew with appearance instead. Our renewal guide compares the two routes side by side.
Police clearance non appearance meaning, in plain words
“Appearance” means showing up at a station so staff can capture your photo, signature and fingerprints. So the police clearance with appearance meaning is simple: you go in person. By contrast, the police clearance non appearance meaning is that you don’t go, because the system already has your biometrics.

How the non appearance police clearance renewal works
Here’s the whole route in order, done entirely online. It’s how to renew police clearance without appearance, start to finish:
- Log in to your old account on the official portal.
- Open Edit Profile and update anything that changed, such as your address or civil status.
- Go to Clearance Application and choose the renewal without appearance.
- Pick your purpose.
- Upload two images: a recent 2×2 picture of you, and a selfie showing you holding your valid government-issued ID.
- Pay through LandBank’s ePayment page.
- Watch your account until the application is approved.
- Once approved, save the clearance file from your account profile and print a copy.
What changes the outcome
The route is short, but a few details decide whether it goes smoothly.
Your 2×2 photo
Use a recent photo with your face clearly visible. A plain white background is the safe choice, since the PNP asks for one on its other remote route. Skip filters, hats, sunglasses and group shots cropped down to your face.
Your selfie with your ID
Hold the ID next to your face, so both are in the frame. Make sure the ID’s photo, name and details are readable, with no glare from a lamp or window. Also, use the same ID you’d show at a station: original, current and government-issued.

Your profile
Whatever your profile shows on the day you apply is what the new clearance will carry. So fix old addresses and changed details before you pay, not after.
Your account
Everything depends on signing in to the original account. If you’ve lost the password, use Forgot Password. Our login help covers the usual problems.
Police clearance non appearance: how many days?
The portal doesn’t publish a fixed processing time for this route. In practice, it depends on how fast the PNP reviews your uploads, and a rejected photo restarts the wait. So don’t plan around a set number of days. Instead, apply at least a week before you need the paper, and check your account daily.
If your deadline is tomorrow, a renewal with appearance may be faster. A station visit with no HIT normally sends you home with the paper the same day.
Why uploads get sent back
The PNP doesn’t publish a list of rejection reasons, but the same photo problems come up again and again. These are the likely culprits:
- A blurry or dark picture. Take it near a window in daylight, and hold the phone steady.
- An unreadable ID. Glare or a tilted card hides the name and photo.
- A covered face. Caps, shades, masks and heavy filters get in the way.
- An old photo. Use a picture that looks like you today.
- A screenshot of a screen. Upload the original photo file instead.
Each sent-back upload adds days. So spend two extra minutes on good light before you submit.
Quick answers
How to get non appearance police clearance for the first time?
You can’t. Non-appearance is only for renewals. Your first national clearance always needs a station visit.
Is the fee different for non-appearance?
No. You pay the usual ₱150, plus whatever your payment channel adds, just like a station renewal.
Is a downloaded clearance a real one?
Yes. Once the PNP approves your renewal, the file you download is your national clearance. Print it on clean paper so the QR code scans cleanly.
What’s appearance vs non appearance police clearance in one line?
Appearance means new biometrics at a station; non-appearance reuses your recent biometrics and works fully online.
Your next step
Check your last clearance’s issue date first. If it’s within three years and you can still sign in, start your non appearance police clearance renewal today. Then set a reminder for the next one, so the three-year window doesn’t close on you. Otherwise, book a slot for a renewal with appearance, and keep our main police clearance guide handy for the rest.
